Safety & fraud tips

Stay one step ahead of scammers.

Property fraud is common. These habits protect you, on AEGIS and everywhere else.

Do this

  • Check that the person and the listing are verified.
  • Inspect the property in person, or send someone you trust, before paying anything.
  • Pay only through AEGIS, inside the app.
  • Keep your conversation in the AEGIS chat, so there is a record.
  • Only confirm a deal when you have the keys and everything is as agreed.
  • Report suspicious listings and people straight from the app.

Never do this

  • Pay rent or fees into a personal account outside the app.
  • Pay because of pressure like “someone else is coming in an hour”.
  • Pay for a property you have not seen, or that the person will not let you see.
  • Share your password, one-time codes or full ID numbers with anyone.
  • Confirm a deal before you have the keys.
  • Trust a price that looks far too good to be true.
Red flags

Signs a deal is not genuine

Rushed payment

Scammers create urgency so you do not have time to check anything.

Refusing a viewing

“I am abroad” or “the keys are with someone else” are classic excuses.

Moving you off the app

Being asked to chat or pay elsewhere is how protections are bypassed.

Copied photos

Listings with generic or stolen photos, vague addresses or no details.

No verification, no history

A brand-new profile with no verification and a very low price deserves extra care.

Requests for sensitive info

AEGIS will never ask for your password or one-time codes by message.

Think you have been scammed? Report it in the app, or email [email protected] with as much detail and evidence as you can. If money has left your account, contact your bank straight away and report the matter to the police.
